Jersey Fresh!

http://www.aphotographofnewjersey.com/

The best thing I've seen about NJ & Photography: Perfect Together. Really. From my fave blogsite above....

"You were born in New Jersey. You’ve been there. You’ve never been there. You know it from movies. TV. Songs. Newspapers. You’ve Googled it. YouTubed it. Wikipediaed it. Flickred it. You’ve never even heard of it.

So ask yourself: is it possible to make a photograph of New Jersey regardless of where you are in the world? The Pierro Gallery and iheartphotograph.com invite photographers, designers, and artists of all kinds to participate in this global open call for work.

Are ideas about place dramatically different since the internet has allowed us to participate in culture on such a global scale? Despite the endless stream of information and images available through mass media, are there limits to how we perceive, imagine, and understand the world? Exactly how do you picture New Jersey? What would you say about it in a photograph?

Your most striking responses—from the literal to the conceptual—will be included in the exhibition “Is it possible to make a photograph of New Jersey regardless of where you are in the world?” curated by I Heart Photograph for the Pierro Gallery in New Jersey, on view from April 6—May 25, 2008.

Exploring the ways that digital technologies impact how we see, circulate, and understand art, works for the exhibition will be submitted, curated, and produced exclusively through the internet.

February 22, 2008 is the deadline for submissions. No fees are required to enter.

This exhibition is made possible by funds from New Jersey State Council of the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment of the Arts.

Deadline is Friday, February 22, 2008

Absolutely no fees are required to enter

You may enter an unlimited number of images

Your images may be shot with a digital camera, scanned, appropriated, screengrabbed, photoshopped, made with your camera phone… it doesn’t matter so long as you are able to transmit the final files digitally.

If your work is chosen for exhibition it will be shown at the Pierro Gallery in either digital or print form. All prints for the exhibition will be produced locally in New Jersey under the supervision of the gallery from your digital files. All printing expenses will be paid by the gallery.

Work in the exhibition will also be included in the exhibition catalogue and posted on the blog iheartphotograph.com. The gallery may additionally use your images for educational or marketing purposes.

If your work is selected you will be notified by email on or before March 1, 2008.

The Pierro Gallery will present the exhibition “Is it possible to make a photograph of New Jersey regardless of where you are in the world?” from April 6—May 25, 2008.

I Heart Photograph will curate the exhibition “Is it possible to make a photograph of New Jersey regardless of where you are in the world?”

iheartphotograph.com is a blog about contemporary photography founded by Laurel Ptak in December 2006 and updated almost every day since. Based in New York City, it grew out of a desire to explore the edges of the medium and help redefine how photography is understood as a contemporary discourse. The blog has become well known for showing visually and conceptually daring work and a majority of photographers on the site are young, unknown, and hail from all parts of the globe. I Heart Photograph attracts 25,000+ page views each month and has an ever-growing, international audience. The site’s content has been incorporated into an exhibition at Higher Pictures in New York City and is used as an educational resource for high school, undergraduate, and MFA classrooms around the world."
